What
adhesives are used?
Technology has come a long way in adhesives. Adhesive strength
is an important factor for your labeling needs. In addition
to strength, one must also consider the permanence of the label,
or lack thereof. Some labels, like warning labels, need to remain
permanently affixed to the surface for the life of a product.
Other labels, like information labels or the “oil change”
labels, need to be removed easily. Rest assured, there is a
label adhesive to satisfy your given product labeling needs.
Permanent Adhesives
Typically, permanent adhesives are not designed to be removed
without tearing the stock, damaging the surface, or using solvents.
The adhesion strength and speed can also be varied. For example,
full adhesion can be nearly instant, or the label can be almost
removable for a short period with full adhesion developing in
minutes or hours.
Removable Adhesives-
A removable Adhesion is fairly strong and will not fall off
in normal circumstances, but the label can be removed relatively
easily without tearing the base stock or leaving adhesive behind
on the old surface. The adhesive is usually strong enough to
be applied again elsewhere. This type of adhesion is also known
as repositionable adhesive. This is the type found on certain
types of repositionable note pads.
